Ch 01 - The French Revolution

The French Revolution began in 1789 in France and led to major political and social changes. At that time, society was divided into three estates, where the common people paid most of the taxes while the clergy and nobility had special privileges.
People were unhappy with the rule of Louis XVI, rising prices, and unfair taxes. This led to protests and the storming of the Bastille, which marked the start of the revolution.
The revolution ended the monarchy and introduced ideas like liberty, equality, and the rights of citizens.
